About this item

An original Beatles promotional card from the Cavern Club, Liverpool which has been used as a postcard by Paul McCartney to send a message back to a friend in the UK during The Beatles stint at the Star Club in Hamburg, Germany in April/May 1962. Paul has addressed the card to Wendy McFadyen, 13 University Rd, Bootle 20, LANCASHIRE, ENGLAND. It reads, “Dear Wendy, I lost your coupon the first week I was here, and I’ve only just found your address, again. Thanks for writing. The club is great, but we’re only here for 4 more weeks. See you when we get home. Love Paul xxx”. The card was produced for a special concert at the Cavern Club on 5th April 1962 which was organised by The Beatles Fan Club and was dubbed ‘the Beatles for their fans’. During the concert, for old time’s sake the group played the first part of the show in their black leather outfits and then they changed into their new Beno Dorn suits and ties for the second part. After the concert The Beatles took the remaining cards to use for promotion at the Star Club. Paul has added the words ‘DEE BLEATLES’ on the front of the card and has also decorated the faces of each member of the group. It measures 15cm x 10.5cm (5.9 inches x 4.1 inches). The card is lightly creased in places. The condition is very good minus.
