B25663 – Pop Weekly Magazine Consecutive Run (UK)
A consecutive run of the first three series (years) of the 60s music magazine Pop Weekly. There are 156 issues in total. Pop Weekly was a new concept in the pop press. It was the first magazine to combine up-to-the-minute news reports, articles on all of the most popular artists and groups of the day together with fabulous shots of the stars. Most of the photos were exclusive to the magazine and they were not reproduced elsewhere. Pop Weekly also attempted a serious, considered tone which set it aside from its competitors in the music press. The first issue of the Pop Weekly was published on 1st September 1962 and this first series ran until 24th August 1963 (52 issues). The second series ran from 31st August 1963 until 22nd August 1964 (52 issues). The third series ran from 29th August 1964 until 21 August 1965 (52 issues).
