About this item
An Official Beatles Fan Club card that has been signed by The Beatles in blue ballpoint pen. The autographs were obtained in Kirkcaldy, Scotland on 6th October 1963 when the group were in the town to perform a concert at the Carlton Theatre. The card was signed for Thomas Waddell who had won a competition with a newspaper to meet The Beatles at the venue. They come with a copy of a letter from the son of the recipient that reads ‘With regards to the Beatles autographs, my father won a competition in a daily paper, either the Daily Express or the National newspaper to meet The Beatles at a venue in Scotland. He met them in their dressing room in Kirkcaldy and got them to sign his membership card as it was the only piece of paper he had on him at the time. He thinks it was 1963. Whilst meeting The Beatles my dad has great fond memories of it and said they were just normal lads off the street and not celebrities. My father recalls them laughing and joking around and throwing Jelly Babies at each other. The competition in the paper was to write a poem or say why you would like to meet them’. The card measures 10cm x 6.25cm (4 inches x 2.5 inches). The condition is very good.
