About this item
A cardboard photo frame that has been autographed on the front by The Beatles in blue ballpoint pen. Ringo Starr has added the group name ‘The Beatles’ above his signature. The autographs were obtained on a return flight to England after The Beatles had been performing in Jersey, The Channel Islands on 10th August 1963. The signatures come with a letter from the nephew of the original recipient. It reads, ‘My Aunt, Lynda Dellany acquired this set of Beatles autographs in 1963. She had travelled to the Island of Jersey with her mother, Mary, to have a holiday with her father Bill, who was working on the island. Bill was working for the engineering company Merrlees, who were installing equipment in a new power station. There were a few concert/musicians on Jersey at the time, there was a bit of discussion and the family decided that the Beatles were most likely “a flash in the pan” so they went to see Engelbert Humperdinck instead! On the aeroplane flight back it was noticed that The Beatles were on the plane. My Aunt and her mother decided to get their autographs. The only piece of paper available was the small photograph holder that contained a souvenir snap from their holiday, so the photo was removed and the card now holds the autographs of all four Beatles. The photo frame measures 10.5cm x 14cm (4.1 inches x 5.5 inches). The condition is very good.
