A collection of original 1962-1963 documentation relating to the Bedford Dormobile which was purchased by David Bowie’s first band The Konrads. The collection includes the following items:
The original purchase document from Penfold Motors in Lee Green, Kent dated 19th October 1962 in the name of Konrads drummer David Hadfield. The van was purchased with money lent from backing singer Stella Patton’s father which was paid back by the band in five instalments.
The document measures 24cm x 36.5cm (9.5 inches x 14.25 inches). There is a horizontal crease line across the middle and some wear and tear to the top and bottom edges. The staple holding the payment receipt to the reverse has caused some rust staining. The condition is good plus.
A detailed service receipt from Tudor Garage in Bromley, Kent dated 19th April 1963 detailing work done on the vehicle.
The receipt measures 20.25cm x 21.5cm (8 inches x 8.5 inches). The receipt has been folded leaving crease lines. The condition is very good minus.
Two further receipts for work done at Tudor Garage and Pickering & Dyer Ltd in April 1963.
These receipts have been affixed to a piece of paper measuring 21cm x 29.5cm (8.25 inches x 11.5 inches). The condition is very good minus.
Two vintage black & white snapshot photographs of the van.
Each photo measures 9cm x 9cm (3.5 inches x 3.5 inches) and they have been attached to a piece of paper measuring 21cm x 29.5cm (8.25 inches x 11.5 inches). The condition is very good plus.
