B30959 – George Harrison 1968 Felt Tip Drawing (India)
A brightly coloured abstract sketch of a landscape drawn by George Harrison and Geoffrey Baker whilst in Rishikesh, India with The Beatles in February 1968. The group had travelled to the country to attend an advanced transcendental meditation programme at the ashram of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi whom they had met in Bangor, Wales in August 1967. During their time at the ashram The Beatles filled their spare time by writing songs (many of which would appear on The White Album), drawing and other activities such as making bracelets. The item comes with a letter from the estate of Geoffrey Baker, a former assistant to the Maharishi. The drawing measures 21cm x 33cm x (8.25 inches x 13 inches). The condition is very good plus.
