B32149 – Paul McCartney 1987 Autographed Happy Eater Napkin (UK)
A napkin from the Happy Eater restaurant that has been autographed by Paul McCartney in black ballpoint pen. The signature was obtained in October 1987. It comes with a letter from the original recipient that reads ‘I remember the day that I met Paul McCartney so vividly. It was one of the days after the Great Storm of 1987 when Paul and Linda (unfortunately at age 13 I didn’t think to get her autograph) we were trying to get to London from their Peasmarsh home, that they stopped at the Happy Eater restaurant that was run by my parents, on the A21 in Lamberhurst Kent. Due to the storm there were power supply problems so, although, they wanted hot food they had to settle for tea and toasted tea cakes!! The restaurant was empty apart from them and my Dad said “that’s Paul McCartney, go and ask for his autograph” which I did. I remember walking up to him, in awe, and asking for his autograph, he was super friendly and he put his hand on my arm and said “Yes, for you anything”. He and Linda had quite a long chat with my parents saying that they had given up on getting to London and were going to “just go home” they obviously spoke in detail about the storm! It was a surreal moment.’. The napkin measures 17cm x 8.5cm (6.6 inches x 3.25 inches). The condition is very good.
