B32244 – Joy Division Peter Hook Original Bass Cabinet Speaker (UK)

The original Joy Division bass cabinet speaker as used by the group extensively. The item was part of the Joy Division touring equipment for years. The speaker was used in the Joy Division touring van as a bed by roadie Twinny and was involved in the infamous crash incident where it “shot out of the van like a turbo charged coffin and it still survived”. The speaker has been re-wired and the original speakers replaced, it is now fitted with Gauss speakers. It measures 115cm (45.25 inches) high x 60cm (23.75 inches) wide x 43cm (17 inches) deep. As you would expect from a piece of extensively used tour equipment there are numerous rips and holes in the fabric surrounding the speaker on all side.  There is some white markings along one side and several areas of water staining. The condition of the speaker is very good minus.

The item was previously sold as Lot 74 at the Peter Hook Signature Collection sale at Omega Auctions on 2nd March 2019. It is accompanied by a Peter Hook Signature Collection certificate of authenticity, a large print of the artwork for the Joy Division EP ‘An Ideal For Living’, both of which have been signed by Peter Hook, and an auction keepsake tag.
