B32523 – The Beatles 1963 Jersey Autographs (Channel Islands)
An extremely large set of Beatles autographs on the reverse of a card stock Peak Larger promotional window card. George Harrison has added the group name ‘The Beatles’ above his autograph. John, George and Ringo have signed in blue ballpoint pen, Paul has signed in blue ink. The signatures were obtained when The Beatles performed at Springfield Ballroom, St. Saviour, Jersey, Channel Islands on either 6th, 7th, 9th or 10th August 1963. They come with a letter from the son of the original recipient that reads ‘The Beatles autographs were acquired by my parents in 1963 during a concert in Jersey. I believe that they were performing at The Springfield Ballroom in August of that year. My parents were on holiday at the time and asked the group members to sign the closest thing to hand, which was the beer advertisement poster for Peak Lager. The autographs were in a notice board in my bedroom for several years, until I left home. We recently rediscovered while clearing out the loft of my dad’s property’. John Lennon’s signature measures 17.5cm (6.9 inches) in length, Paul McCartney’s signature measures 9.5cm (3.75 inches) in length, George Harrison’s signature meaures15.5cm (6.1 inches) in length, Ringo Starr’s signature measures 12.5cm (4.9 inches) in length. The card poster measures 23cm x 29.75cm (9 inches x 11.75 inches). There are a number of tears that have been repaired from the reverse using acid free tape and the poster is creased in places. The condition is very good minus.
