A complete consecutive run of six years of Record Mirror music papers for the years 1964 to 1969 inclusive. There are 313 issues in total which were published over a 6 year period: 1964 – 52 issues, 1965 – 52 issues, 1966 – 53 issues, 1967 – 52 issues, 1968 – 51 issues, 1969 – 52 issues. The run begins on the 4th January 1964 and ends on the 27th December 1969.
Record Mirror was first published in 1954. Two years later it carried the first UK album chart. It was also the first UK music paper to feature colour front covers setting it apart from its competitors on the news stand. Record Mirror contained weekly charts, record reviews, interviews with and articles about all of the most popular and up and coming groups and artists of the day, black and white and coloured photographs.
Record Mirror normally contained around 12 pages. The issues measure 29cm x 40.5cm (11.5 inches x 16 inches). The condition is extremely impressive. 95% of the issues have been laid flat with no folding or crease lines to the front. There is no writing on the front or back covers except for around 40 issues from the later period where the owner’s name has been written on the white border of the front cover. Around 10% of the papers are very good, the remainder are between very good plus and excellent.
