A collection of Melody Maker music papers from 1960. There are 40 issues in total. The run begins on the 2nd January and ends on the 17th December.
Melody Maker was a British weekly music paper, one of the world’s earliest music weeklies, founded in 1926. By the early 1970s Melody Maker was considered the most serious of the pop music weeklies, a musos paper. Melody Maker covered all of the major trends of the seventies – glam rock, progressive rock, punk rock, reggae, post punk and it was the home of some fabulous reportage on the music scene in Britain and abroad.
Provenance: the papers come from the collection of Cavern Club compère, Bob Wooler.
The issues measure 33cm x 45cm (13 inches x 17.1 inches). The condition is as follows: three quarters of the issues is very good minus and a quarter are very good.
