B39293 – David Bowie Manish Boys Cancelled Coleford 1966 Concert Poster (UK)

An original concert poster advertising an concert by The Manish Boys featuring David Bowie on saxophone and vocals. The concert was due to take place at the Coleford British Legion Hall and Club on 13th March 1965 but the show was cancelled.

An excerpt from The Bowie Bible reads as follows:
“Their show the previous evening in Coleford, Somerset, had been cancelled without the band’s knowledge. Despite attempts to sleep at the venue, they hit the road again but ran out of diesel, forcing them to sleep in the van in the cold until the morning.”

The poster measures 102cm x 75 cm ( 40 inches x 29.5 inches). It has previously been folded leaving horizontal and vertical crease marks. There are several splits horizontally and vertically along the fold lines the largest of which measures 18cm (7 inches). There is also wear and tear to the corners and edges. The condition is very good minus.

The poster was originally from the estate of former Manish Boy, Record Collector magazine contributor Bob Solly.
