B40982 – The Beatles 1963 Cambridge Autographs (UK) – £Price On Request

A gold coloured memo book that has been autographed inside by The Beatles, Tommy Roe and Chris Montez. John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr have signed in blue ballpoint pen, George Harrison has signed in black ballpoint pen. Both Tommy Roe and Chris Montez have signed in blue ballpoint pen, adding the word ‘Sincerely’ above their respective signatures. The autographs were obtained at the Regal Cinema, Cambridge, England on 19th March 1963 when The Beatles appeared on the bill of the Tommy Roe and Chris Montez UK tour. The original owner has written the group name ‘The Beatles’ on the page.

They come with a letter from the original owner that reads as follows:
‘A few weeks before the Beatles concert on the 19th March 1963, at the Regal Cinema, Cambridge, a group of my girlfriends queued overnight at the Regal for tickets. Success! The day before the concert two of the girls skipped school to see the Beatles arrive at their hotel. However the girls were spotted on local T.V. news by a staff member at the school, St. Mary’s. As a result they had detention on the Saturday the week after the concert. One of my friends succeeded in getting the enclosed signatures from a door at the Regal. I was the one of my friends who had an autograph book with me. My friend grabbed my book, saying “I’ll see if I can get their signatures” which she did of course’.

The page on which the Beatles have signed measures 9.5cm x 6.5cm (3.75 inches x 2.5 inches). Slight bleeding to the ink on John’s signature. The condition is excellent.
