B42495 – Freddie Mercury Owned 80s Preening Pouting Posing Posturing Old Tart Xmas Card (UK)

A 1980s day glow pink Christmas card that features a black and white image of Freddie Mercury on the front taken during a photo shoot for Vogue magazine. The text printed inside the card humorously reads ‘Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from the Preening, Pouting, Posturing, Posing Old Tart’. The card was specially commissioned by Freddie Mercury to send to friends. A few signed examples of the cards have surfaced over the years but unsigned ones have not been on the open market before.

These cards were part of lot 2181 the Freddie Mercury: A World Of His Own, Crazy Little Things 2 sale held at Sotheby’s New Bond Street, London on 13th September 2023. However, the lot was withdrawn by Sotheby’s and purchased by another party, close to Queen, prior to the auction. We now have a limited number of these Christmas cards available. This item comes with a signed certificate of authenticity on Tracks Ltd. letterhead stating that the Christmas card was formerly Freddie Mercury’s personal property.

The card measures 17.2cm x 21.5cm (6.8 inches x 8.5 inches). There is some light creasing and water staining to it. The condition is very good. Please note the card you receive may differ slightly from the one illustrated.
