B44372 – The Beatles 1965 HELP! Autographed Press Pass And Other Material (UK) – £Price On Request
A rare collection of material relating to the filming of The Beatles second feature film Help! The collection consists of the items listed below.
A journalists press pass for the rehearsals of the television programme Ready, Steady, Go! that took place in London on 12th March 1965. The press pass has been autographed on the reverse by The Beatles and the British actor Frankie Howerd in black ballpoint pen. Frankie has added the inscription ‘All the best from’ before his name.
The autographs were obtained at Twickenham Film Studios, Twickenham, London on 28th April 1965 when The Beatles were shooting scenes with Frankie Howerd for their second feature film ‘Help!’. Also taking part in the filming was the then unknown British actress Wendy Richards. These scenes did not make it to the final cut of the film but a short documentary on the filming can be seen on the YouTube clip below.

The journalist that obtained the autographs had the Ready, Steady, Go! press pass with him on the day of The Beatles filming.
The press pass measures 11.4cm x 10cm (4.5 inches x 4 inches).
A one page typed letter on Walter Shenson Film Ltd, London letterhead paper sent on 15th April 1965 from Twickenham film studios to press photographer Geoff Crellin arranging a visit to the studios to meet The Beatles. The letter is signed by Tony Howard, Publicity Director for Walter Shenson Films. Although the letter suggests that the meeting should take place on 29th April research shows that the filming actually took place on the 18th April 1965. The letter measures 20.25cm x 25.25cm (8 inches x 10 inches).
Two modern black and white photographs of The Beatles, Frankie Howerd and Wendy Richards that were taken on 28th April 1965.
Each photograph measures 20.25cm x 20.25cm (8 inches x 8 inches)
A copy of the University Of London Students Union newspaper the Sennet dated May 11th 1965 that features the article and photographs taken of the day.
The newspaper measures 31cm x 39.5cm (12 inches x 15.75 inches). The condition of the collection is very good plus.
