B44813 – Around The Beatles Television Special Autographs Signed For A Member Of The Applejacks 1964 (UK) – £Price On Request

A piece of white paper signed by The Beatles in black ballpoint pen. The autographs were signed for Megan Davies, bassist in the group the Applejacks, backstage at Wembley Studios, Wembley, London, England on 28th April 1964 during the filming of an appearance for the ITV/Rediffuson programme Around The Beatles. At Wembley Studios at the same time the Applejacks were filming an appearance for the television programme Crackerjack. During the meeting backstage The Beatles offered their song ‘Like Dreamers Do’ to the Applejacks. The Lennon/McCartney composition would become their second single release, it would reach number 20 in the UK charts in June 1964.

In the T.V special, Around The Beatles, broadcast on 6th May 1964 the group mimed to eight songs ‘Twist And Shout’, ‘Roll Over Beethoven’, ‘I Wanna Be Your Man’, ‘Long Tall Sally’, ‘Boys’, ‘Love Me Do Melody’, Can’t Buy Me Love’ and ‘Shout’. Other guests that appeared on the show were Cilla Black, Millie, Sounds Incorporated, P. J. Proby, The Vernon Girls and Long John Baldry. Instead of miming to EMI Studio recordings, The Beatles recorded the music to go with the filming for Around The Beatles again at IBC Studios, Portland Place, London on 18th and 19th April 1964 and these recordings were broadcast on the programme. Alan Florence was the sound engineer at these sessions.

The paper measures 12.5cm x 20.25cm (5 inches x 8 inches). The condition is very good.
