B45752 – John Lennon & Stuart 1961 Hamburg Writing And Drawings (Germany) – £Price On Request

Two pieces of paper from a writing pad on which John Lennon has handwritten a poem and John and Stuart Sutcliffe have also added some drawings. Both the writing and drawings were completed in Astrid Kirchherr’s apartment in Hamburg, Germany in 1961.
The single sided poem reads:
‘Eventually the fam leaves found that they had lost their pigs and so they all walked towards the centre of the city. “How now you owld fud face” says the first plum. Then very quickly the third jew said “I have come to save you from the big balled camel. “The big balled camel says a muddling of people passing by “Why I have only heard of this in a book by my great-grandad-fucker. “you are naturally my brother” says 49 jews who are sitting quietly in the corner’.
The drawings are over two sides of the second sheet. John Lennon has drawn two characters at the bottom of the sheet which resemble the characters that he drew in his 1964 book ‘In His Own Write’. Stuart Sutcliffe has drawn a self-portrait and a portrait of Astrid Kirchherr above John’s drawings. On the reverse side of the page John has drawn two facial doodles, one to the left and one in the centre. Stuart Sutcliffe has drawn a facial doodle on the right side of the paper.
Provenance: Given to the previous owner by Astrid Kirchherr.
Each sheet measures 21.75cm x 16.7cm (8.6 inches x 6.6 inches). The condition is very good minus.
