B45874 – Paul Simon 1965 Signed Performance Receipt Homeward Bound (UK)

£695.00

A receipt for the Paul Simon performance that took place at the Manor Bird Folk Sing Club, Warrington, England on 8th September 1965 that has been signed by Paul Simon in black ballpoint pen. During the northern leg of his 1965 UK tour Paul Simon stayed with Geoff Speed, the gentleman that booked Paul to play the concerts at his parent’s home in Widnes, England and Geoff would drive Paul to performances or drop him at Widnes train station to travel to a performance. It is at this very station that Paul Simon is said to have written part of his song ‘Homeward Bound’.

Provenance: the receipt comes with a letter from the previous owner that reads ‘He stayed with Geoff Speed and his parent’s in Widnes for a few nights When he was leaving Geoff drove Paul to Widnes Station. He was on his way to Hull to play the Watertons Club. Geoff says that when he dropped Paul off at the station, the train was already in and he had to run to catch it. To say that ‘Homeward Bound’ was written on Widnes station isn’t strictly true’.

The receipt measures 11.25cm x 7.6cm (4.45 inches x 3 inches). The condition is very good. This item comes with a signed certificate of authenticity on Tracks Ltd. letterhead which acts as a lifetime money back guarantee.
