A collection of pencil drawings by Mike Ross relating to the silver belt buckle which he was commissioned to design by Paul McCartney. This was to be the central feature of a belt which was issued to promote Paul’s compilation album ‘All The Best’. The collection consists of the following:
an original pencil sketch of the final design for the front of the silver belt buckle and diagrams of the lettering, hallmarks etc. which were to appear on the reverse of the buckle. Accompanied by a set of four pencil sketches on tracing paper of the buckle design development.
Provenance: from the collection of designer/art director/photographer Mike Ross. Mike was responsible for album covers by many artists including Paul McCartney, Elton John, The Police and Sting.
The final design page measures 24cm x 17cm (9.5 inches x 6.75 inches). The other four pieces each measures 21cm x 30cm (8.25 inches x 11.75 inches). There are fold lines to each and a tear on one of the development drawings. The condition is very good plus.
