B46521 – John Lennon 1966 Indica Book Exhibition Invitation Card (UK)

An invitation to the opening of an exhibition by Greek sculptor Vassilakis Takis. It took place at the Indicia Gallery, 6 Mason’s Yard, Duke Street, London. The exhibition ran from the 24th November 1966 to December 1966.

John Lennon purchased a piece from the exhibition entitled ‘Black Mirror’ for the sum of £1500. The invitation is accompanied by two modern photographs, one of Takis exhibiting the sculpture at the exhibition and another that shows the sculpture after it was purchased by John inside his Kenwood home.

Provenance: From the collection of Ringo Starr’s former business manager and Apple employee Hilary Gerrard.

The invitation measures 9.9cm x 15cm (3.9 inches x 6 inches). The condition is excellent.
