B46914 – The World Of David Bowie Autographed Album Newcastle 1972 (UK)

£1,595.00

A UK vinyl pressing of the 1970 David Bowie album ‘The World Of David Bowie’ autographed on the reverse by David Bowie and Nicky Graham in black ballpoint pen. The signatures were obtained in early 1972 on the first UK leg of the Ziggy Stardust Tour following a concert in Newcastle, UK. This was a transformative period in Bowie’s life as he slowly adopted the legendary Ziggy Stardust stage persona. It was during this timeframe that Bowie, along with his backing band The Spiders from Mars, would develop the necessary choreography, stage costuming and make-up. Also, during this first leg of the UK tour, Bowie would assume his trademark red spiked hair. The Ziggy tour moved from sparsely attended small pub and club gigs at the onset, to highly publicised sold-out shows by the end. Worth noting, pianist Nicky Graham only played with Bowie and The Spiders from Mars from 10th February until his dismissal during 11-18 August rehearsals for the Rainbow Theatre in London. Graham is widely known in the Bowie community for his help and support of David in the early days of GEM management where, by day, he would make endless phone calls to venues around the UK booking David Bowie and The Spiders’ legendary earliest performances, and by night would join David and band on stage and play piano – dressed in full costume along with the Spiders from Mars.
The condition is very good plus.
