About this item
A rare ‘Beatles On British Eagle International Airlines’ flight bag that was produced by the Liverpool based airline when The Beatles were flown from London to Liverpool for the premiere of The Beatles first feature film ‘A Hard Day’s Night’ on 10th July 1964. The Beatles boarded the British Eagle Britannia aircraft from London airport along with around another 100 passengers, the group and their party occupied the 16 seat first class compartment. The words ‘BEATLES ON’ were added to the standard British Eagle bags especially for the trip, this bag was formerly the property of a stewardess on the flight. It comes with a modern colour photograph of The Beatles boarding the aircraft that shows Paul McCartney holding a similar bag. There is a vintage ‘British United’ cabin baggage tag attached to the handle of the bag. To date this is the only example of the bag that we have ever had or have seen for sale. The bag measures 32cm x 29cm x 15cm (12.5 inches x 11.25 inches x 6 inches). The condition is very good plus.
